Shannon Wirrenga works primarily with oils, and her work is inspired by lessons of faith and nature.

She enjoys painting people and lettering calligraphy, but also dabbles in photography and acrylic. Exhibit open Fridays from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. January from the 6 through January 20.

Donations must be received before end of year to qualify

Make a donation to O.P.E.R.A.'s fund drive before the end of the year and your contribution will be double-matched by Ellendale Opera House supporters.

The "All-In, All-School Fund Drive" ends Dec. 31, and to further encourage contributions, anonymous supporters will now provide a double-match for all donations made by year's end, up to a maximum of $10,000.

The double match was available previously only for donations from new O.P.E.R.A. contributors. To date, some $3,000 has been donated to the fund drive by first-time O.P.E.R.A. contributors.

Another $31,000 has been donated by supporters who have contributed in previous years to the opera house. Those donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by supporters up to a maximum of $20,000.

A new art exhibit featuring oil, watercolor and pastel paintings by Betty Sheldon will open Sat., Sept. 10 during Applefest in the Ellendale Opera House Lobby & Gallery.

The exhibit will be open on Fridays in September during the OPERA lunch hour from noon-5pm, and a reception to recognize the well-known local artist will be held from 5-6pm Thursday, Sept. 8 in the Lobby & Gallery. Refreshments will be served.

The Opera House Lobby & Gallery has on display the winning photographs from the ND Governor's Photo Contest. The exhibit features some of the winning photographs from 2017-2021. The gallery will be open to view the exhibit Tuesdays (1-5 p.m.) and Fridays (Opera lunch hour - 5 p.m.) from June 21 through July 19. The exhibit is sponsored by O.P.E.R.A., Inc., Ellendale Area Community Foundation, and Ellendale Tourism.
